The C.E.F.C.M. (European Maritime Vocational Training Center) is, with 4200 trainees per year, the largest French vocational training organization totally dedicated to the lifelong training of seafarers and maritime company personnel.
The European Maritime Vocational Training Center was founded in 1998. It is a public body, a Public Interest Group, which has the particularity of bringing together in its board of directors the supervisory authorities for maritime education – Maritime Affairs – competent local authorities and main funders of continuing training; as well as the representatives of the various professional branches of the maritime sector: transport and trade (Armateurs de France), fishing, shellfish farming and nautism.
The CEFCM was born in Brittany, from the respective will of the State, the Regional Council and the professional organizations, in front of the observation of the necessity to organize, to coordinate and to professionalize the actions of development of the competences in the direction of the population sailors and actors from the maritime world.
CEFCM opertates three training sites, based in France, Brittany Concarneau and Lorient, specialized in three distinct activities: navigation and general training, technical training and maintenance, safety and security training;
training courses and the development of local training courses in partnership with the network of high schools; tailor-made and on-demand training in all major ports and
major French maritime regions, on board ships or in companies; national and international developments and partnerships.
